(How a Colt Crossed the River)
One day, a colt took a bag of wheat to the mill.
As he was running with the bag on his back, he came to a small river. The colt could not decide whether he could cross it. Looking around, he saw a cow grazing nearby. He asked, "Aunt Cow, could you tell me if I can cross the river" The cow told him that he could and that the river was not very deep, just knee high.
the colt was crossing the river when a squirrel jumped down a tree and stopped him. The squirrel shouted, "Colt, stop! Youll drown! One of my friends drowned just yesterday in the river." Not knowing what to do, the colt went home to consult his mom.
He told his mom his experience on the way. His mother said, "My child, dont always listen to others. Youd better go and try yourself. Then youll know what to do."
Later, at the river, the squirrel stopped the colt again. "Little horse, its too dangerous!"
"No, I want to try myself", answered the colt. Then he crossed the river carefully.
On the other side of the river, the colt realized that the river was neither as shallow as the cow said nor as deep as the squirrel told him.
You see, real knowledge comes from practice.
The Fox and the Cat
It happened that the cat met Mr. Fox in the woods. She thought, "He is intelligent and well experienced, and is highly regarded in the world," so she spoke to him in a friendly manner, "Good-day, my dear Mr. Fox. How is it going How are you How are you getting by in these hard times"
The fox, filled with arrogance, examined the cat from head to feet, and for a long time did not know whether he should give an answer. At last he said, "Oh, you poor beard-licker, you speckled fool, you hungry mouse hunter, what are you thinking Have you the nerve to ask how I am doing What do you know How many tricks do you understand"
"I understand but one," answered the cat, modestly.
"What kind of a trick is it" asked the fox.
"When the dogs are chasing me, I can jump into a tree and save myself."
"Is that all" said the fox. "I am master of a hundred tricks, and in addition to that I have a sackful of cunning. I feel sorry for you. Come with me, and I will teach you how one escapes from the dogs."
Just then a hunter came by with four dogs. The cat jumped nimbly up a tree, and sat down at its top, where the branches and foliage completely hid her.
"Untie your sack, Mr. Fox, untie your sack," the cat shouted to him, but the dogs had already seized him, and were holding him fast.
"Oh, Mr. Fox," shouted the cat. "You and your hundred tricks are left in the lurch. If you been able to climb like I can, you would not have lost your life."

The wolf and the fox wanted to eat the rabbit, but it wasn't easy to catch him. One day the wolf said to the fox, "You go home and lie in bed. I'll tell the rabbit that you are dead. When he comes to look at you, you can jump up and catch him." That's a good idea," said the fox. He went home at once. The wolf went to the rabbit's house and knocked at the door. "Who _is it?" asked the rabbit. "It's the wolf. I've come to tell you that the fox is dead." Then the wolf went away. The rabbit went to the fox's house. He looked in through the window and saw the fox lying in bed with his eyes closed. He thought, "Is the fox really dead or is he pretending (假裝) to be dead? If he's not dead, he'll catch me when I go near him." so he said, "The wolf says that the fox is dead. But he doesn't look like a dead fox. The mouth of a dead fox is always open." When the fox heard this, he thought, "I'll show him that I'm dead." So he opened his mouth. The rabbit knew that the fox wasn't dead, and he ran as quickly as he could.

An old legend relates that long ago God had a great many burdens which He wished to have carried from one place to another on earth, so He asked the animals to lend a hand. But all of them began to make excuses for not helping: the elephant was too dignified; the lion, too proud; and so on. Finally the birds came to God and said, 'If you will tie the burdens into small bundles, we'll be glad to carry them for you. We are small but we would like to help.'
So God fastened upon the back of each one a small bundle, and they all set out walking across the plain to their destination. They sang as they went, and did not seem to feel the weight of their burdens at all. Every day the burdens seemed lighter and lighter, until the loads seems to be lifting the birds, instead of the birds carrying the burdens.
When they arrived at their destination, they discovered that when theyremoved their loads, there were wings in their place, wings which enabled them to fly to the sky and the tree tops.
They had learned how to carry their burdens, and their loads had becomewings to carry them nearer to God. Burdens we carry for others may become wings of the spirit, to lift us into happiness such as we have never known. -- Author Unknown

What It's the real courage(什麼才是真正的勇氣)
A father was worried about his son, who was sixteen years old but had no courage at all. So the father decided to call on a Buddhist monk to train his boy.
The Buddhist monk said to the boy』s father, 「You should leave your son alone here. I』ll make him into a real man within three months. However, you can』t come to see him ring this period. 」
Three months later, the boy』s father returned. The Buddhist monk arranged a boxing match between the boy and an experienced boxer. Each time the fighter struck the boy, he fell down, but at once the boy stood up; and each time a punch knocked him down, the boy stood up again. Several times later, the Buddhist monk asked, 「What do you think of your child?」
「What a shame!」 the boy』s father said. 「I never thought he would be so easily knocked down. I needn』t have him left here any longer.」
「I』m sorry that that』s all you see. Don』t you see that each time he falls down; he stands up again instead of crying? That』s the kind of courage you wanted him to have.」
